Groton Township
Fire Department coordinated it's monthly training to include Landing Zone
operations with St. Vincent's Life Flight 4 stationed at Sandusky County
Airport. In addition to setting up Landing Zone and communications
test. Our Medical Director, Dr. Ryan Stahl was on site to evaluate members conducting a extrication on a vehicle donated 1992 Cadillac at the department. Dr. Stahl's recommendations provided some valuable insight on procedural changes. Unfortunately due to our rural setting and having a large interstate in our township, accidents in our township tend to be of vehicle collisions of "high speed". Last year we seen four fatality accidents in our township. In all of these cases, we utilized our extrication tools (Hurst "Jaws of Life" cutters, spreaders, rams and other equipment) and set up Landing Zones. |
