History
This truck was purchased through Command Apparatus to replace a 1969 Sutphen
Pumper with an open cab. The old Sutphen 722 was beginning to show its age
and was going to require some major work. The "new" KME 722 was formerly
used in Long Island, New York and was being sold there due to an upgrade
program. 722 is equipped with an enclosed cab that protects passengers with
an enclosed rear cab that was necessary to comply with NFPA Standards
regarding responding vehicles and passenger safety. 722 is used primarily
as an initial response truck on vehicle accidents and Mutual Aid Fire
Response, but also as our second line pumper on any fires within the
township. 722 is outfitted with equipment to respond to vehicle accidents
including Jaws of Life, Foam Application System and Cribbing. This truck is
equipped with a "Top Mounted" pump that allows the pump operator to stand on
the bridge of the truck and see the scene in a 360 degree view. This truck
is a welcome addition to our department and increases our ability to respond
to emergency situations with safer and more modern equipment to protect our
township residents and those others covered by our department.
