"What is the Auxiliary?"
The Auxiliary consist the wives and family members of the Firefighters and supports the men that have dedicated themselves to serve the residents of Groton Township.
As an Auxiliary they respond with the fire department when needed to set-up a rehab area for the firefighters so they can come up and rest, get warm during the wintertime and get something to eat and or drink. There are times that they have provided breakfast on station for all firefighters after structure fires.
Throughout the year, they hold various fundraisers, with their biggest being the Annual Pancake Breakfast that is always held on the first Sunday in November. Every year they host a Pot Luck Christmas Party at the Township Hall for the firefighters and their spouses with the Auxiliary donating the meat and the wives who are very, very good cooks bringing the rest of the meal.
Through the years, the auxiliary has purchased items for the department and the firefighters themselves, such as flashlights, elk skin gloves, mini strobe lights for their bunker gear.
The Auxiliary would like to say "thank you" to the residents of the Township that have supported the fire department through donations or attending the fundraisers that they hold every year.
The Auxiliary is an integral part of the department and makes the task of "fire-fighting" a little less difficult. On behalf of all the firefighters, we would like to extend our gratitude for all the hard work the Auxiliary does on our behalf.
