Groton Township Volunteer Fire Department
was formed July 9th, 1990 with three pieces of equipment and twelve members
covering an area approximately 46 square miles which includes all of
Groton Township and part of Oxford Township. The departments first pumper was an
1949 Pirsch on loan from Perkins Township. How times have changed
The Pirsch pumper
has given away to the departments first piece of new equipment, 1993 International KME
pumper and now consist of five pieces of equipment (including our new
2002 International AFR Rescue Truck) and twenty-five members. We also have moved to a new township hall which
houses Road and Fire department under one roof.
