Groton Township Volunteer Fire Department was formed July 9th, 1990 with three pieces of equipment and twelve members covering an area approximately 46 square miles which includes all of Groton Township and part of Oxford Township. The department’s first pumper was an 1949 Pirsch on loan from Perkins Township. How times have changed… The Pirsch pumper has given away to the departments first piece of new equipment, 1993 International KME pumper and now consist of five pieces of equipment (including our new 2002 International AFR Rescue Truck) and twenty-five members. We also have moved to a new township hall which houses Road and Fire department under one roof.
